Pokhara Avengers Re-Sign Dhananjaya Lakshan Ahead of NPL Season 3
August 16, 2026
Pokhara Avengers have brought back Sri Lankan all-rounder Pothotuwa Arachchige Dhananjaya Lakshan for the third season of the Nepal Premier League, retaining a player who was a key contributor to the side's campaign in Season 2.
The 27-year-old, a left-handed batter and right-arm medium-fast bowler, returns to the Avengers setup after a strong showing last season, where he made valuable contributions with both bat and ball. Lakshan brings international pedigree to the squad, having played three ODIs for Sri Lanka, along with a broader franchise résumé of 70 T20 matches and 48 wickets.
His return continues a busy off-season for Pokhara Avengers, who have been steadily building their squad for the new campaign. The franchise had already locked in marquee batter Kushal Bhurtel as a retained player, alongside Sagar Dhakal, Arjun Kumal, Bipin Khatri, Aakash Chand, Kiran Thagunna and Dinesh Kharel. Through the auction process, the team further strengthened its roster with the additions of Bibek Rana Magar, Sudip Aryal, Sanni BK, Bipin Acharya, and Pratik Pokharel.
Lakshan's signing also adds to Pokhara's growing list of overseas recruits for Season 3, following the marquee addition of Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The franchise has also moved to strengthen its coaching setup, appointing former Sri Lanka international Balapuwaduge Ajantha Winslow Mendis as head coach for the upcoming season.
With Lakshan back in the fold alongside Bhurtel and Shakib, Pokhara Avengers appear to be assembling one of the more experienced squads heading into NPL Season 3, blending proven domestic talent with international firepower.
