Chitwan Rhinos have confirmed that Dawid Malan is returning for Nepal Premier League Season 3. The franchise announced the move on its official X account on 27 October 2026 with the message “Dawid Malan is BACK with the Rhinos!”

The 39-year-old left-handed top-order batter previously represented the Rhinos in the 2025 edition of the tournament. His return adds an experienced international option to a side captained by Kushal Malla as NPL Season 3 continues at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Previous NPL Involvement

Malan featured for Chitwan Rhinos throughout the 2025 season. According to tournament records, he scored 121 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 123.47, with a highest score of 80. One of his stronger performances came against Janakpur Bolts, where he made 80 off 54 balls in a match that saw the Rhinos post a competitive total.

That prior association makes the latest announcement a return rather than a first-time signing.

Player Background

Malan represented England across all formats between 2017 and 2023 before retiring from international cricket in 2024. He was part of the England side that won the 2022 T20 World Cup and at one stage held the No. 1 ranking in ICC T20I batting. Across 62 T20 Internationals, he scored 1,892 runs at an average of 36.38 and a strike rate of 132.49, including one century and 16 fifties.

He has also played extensively in franchise leagues around the world. Chitwan Rhinos have retained Kushal Malla as captain and appointed former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir as head coach for the current season. The side opened its Season 3 campaign against Biratnagar Kings on 27 October.
