Siddhartha Bank to Present DRS for First Time in NPL 2026

October 20, 2026

The Cricket Association of Nepal has confirmed that the Decision Review System will be used in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League.

The association announced the introduction of DRS via social media on 20 October 2026, according to OnlineKhabar. This marks the first time the technology will be available in the franchise T20 competition.

According to the report citing CAN, full 3D ball-tracking technology will be used for LBW reviews. Teams will also be able to challenge run-outs, stumpings, and no-balls. AI-based edge detection will determine whether the ball has made contact with the bat. Additional analytics, including height-based wides and measurements of the length and height of sixes, will also be available.

CAN Secretary Paras Khadka had earlier indicated that the association had completed testing with two technology providers and would make a final decision after assessing accuracy. The announcement on 20 October follows those tests. The league received ICC sanction earlier this month, which has facilitated operational upgrades, including the introduction of DRS.

The third edition of the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League is scheduled to begin on 26 October at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Further details on the number of reviews available to each team and the matches in which the system will be deployed have not yet been released.
