Janakpur Bolts Sign Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera for NPL 2026

October 26, 2026

Janakpur Bolts have signed Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League. The franchise announced the deal on its official Facebook page on 26 October 2026, the same day the tournament began in Kirtipur.

In its statement, Janakpur Bolts described Perera as “known for his fearless batting and ability to deliver in crucial moments.” The left-handed batter has previously featured in seven franchise leagues, including the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, and Pakistan Super League. The NPL will be his eighth.

Perera, a regular across formats for Sri Lanka, has scored 1,177 runs in 22 Tests, 3,237 runs in 116 ODIs and 2,335 runs in 95 T20Is, according to career figures cited in reports of the signing. His experience adds an explosive top-order option to a Janakpur side that already includes overseas players Moeen Ali, Jimmy Neesham, Iftikhar Ahmed, and captain Harmeet Singh.

The signing comes as the Bolts look to rebound. They won the inaugural NPL title in 2024 but finished bottom of the table in 2025 after winning only one match. Perera’s aggressive style is expected to strengthen their batting as they chase a return to the playoffs.

Janakpur Bolts open their 2026 campaign on 27 October against Karnali Yaks at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The third edition of the NPL runs until 21 November, with all matches at the same venue.
