ICC Grants List A T-20 Status to Nepal Premier League 2026 | NPL III
October 21, 2026
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has granted recognition to all matches of the third edition of the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL 2026). All matches have also received official List A T20 status.
The tournament will run from October 26 to November 21, 2026, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal. Eight franchise teams are expected to compete across 32 matches during the season.

The recognition marks an important step for the Nepal Premier League, giving the competition official international recognition. List A T20 status also means that performances in these matches can count towards players’ official T20 records under the applicable statistical rules.
The decision could further strengthen the league’s credibility and support its efforts to attract overseas players. Their participation remains subject to the relevant rules and approvals from their respective cricket boards.
In a press statement signed by CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, the association said the recognition would contribute to the development and professionalism of Nepali cricket while strengthening its international standing.
The announcement comes five days before the tournament begins. Defending champions Lumbini Lions are scheduled to face Sudurpaschim Royals in the opening match on October 26.
Organized by CAN and sponsored by Siddhartha Bank, the Nepal Premier League has become a major domestic franchise cricket competition in Nepal. The official recognition of all matches adds another milestone ahead of the third edition.
