CAN Speeds Up TU and Mulpani Ground Upgrades Ahead of NPL 2026 and U-19 Women's World Cup
October 02, 2026
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is accelerating upgrades at the Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and the Mulpani Cricket Ground. The work is meant to prepare both venues for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), due to start in Kartik, and for the ICC U-19 Women's World Cup, scheduled for Poush.
CAN Vice-President Roshan Bahadur Singh gave the update to the national news agency Rasas. He said ground upgrades and the supporting infrastructure are being fast-tracked with both tournaments in mind.
Singh also said the association is making arrangements to avoid a repeat of the spectator and management problems that affected earlier NPL editions. The report did not specify what those problems were or what measures CAN plans to introduce.
Nepal is due to host the ICC U-19 Women's World Cup for the first time. That makes this season a rare overlap: a domestic franchise league and a global age-group tournament are scheduled within weeks of each other, and the grounds are expected to carry both.
What is and isn't confirmed
The NPL's final fixture list, match venues, ticketing arrangements, and broadcast details had not been announced in the information available at the time of writing. Those are the details to watch for next from CAN or the official NPL channels.
