Nepal Telecom to Sponsor Third Edition of Nepal Premier League
October 19, 2026
Nepal Telecom has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to sponsor the third edition of the Nepal Premier League, according to a report published by Unified Nepal on October 18, 2026. The agreement was signed in Kathmandu by Nepal Telecom Managing Director Sangita Pahadi and CAN General Manager Utsav Dhungana.
Nepal Telecom’s Chief Technical Officer, Dilliram Adhikari, said at the signing that the company has backed the national-level tournament for years as part of efforts to strengthen the institutional development of cricket in Nepal. The report does not state the value or duration of the deal or the specific sponsorship category Nepal Telecom will hold.
NPL 2026 is scheduled to run from October 26 to November 21 at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. That gives the sponsorship roughly a week before the first ball is bowled.
The state-owned telecom company’s link to the league predates this announcement. In November 2024, ahead of the inaugural edition, Nepal Telecom signed an agreement to become the telecom partner of the Sudurpaschim Royals franchise. The new MoU is with CAN rather than a single team, which makes it a tournament-level commitment.
Nepal Telecom’s rival Ncell has also been associated with the league. Ncell was the “Powered By” partner for the first season in 2024 and announced it would continue in that role for Season 2. This report found no confirmation of Ncell’s status for NPL 2026, so it is unclear how the two telecom brands will sit alongside each other this year.
Further details on the sponsorship, including its category and any broadcast or fan-engagement elements, would need to come from CAN or Nepal Telecom. The tournament opens on October 26.
