Karan KC is a genuine fast bowler by associate cricket standards—broad-shouldered and aggressive, he has produced more five-wicket hauls than any other pace bowler in Nepal's List A and T20 history. His new-ball spells and ability to strike in the middle overs have made Nepal considerably less dependent on spin to force results, a rare profile for a team from the subcontinent. With the bat, he's built a reputation as a lower-order finisher rather than a top-order batter — he usually comes in at No. 8 or below and has repeatedly played match-turning cameos. His most famous innings came in February 2018, when he scored 42 not out from No. 10 to seal a one-wicket win over Canada that secured Nepal's ODI status. He has never captained Nepal or any franchise side, playing instead as a senior bowling spearhead under a succession of captains.

Karan KC was born in Sigana, Baglung, and grew up in Chandigarh, India, where he first made a name for himself in tennis-ball cricket before switching to the hard ball. He represented Panchakanya Tej in the 2014 Nepal Premier League (an earlier domestic tournament of the same name, unrelated to the current NPL franchise league), taking 10 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 13.40. He was picked for Nepal's preliminary squad for the 2014 ICC World Cricket League Division Three but didn't make the playing XI, before earning a training stint in Bangalore later that year.

Domestically, Karan KC has turned out for several Nepali teams over the years, including Pokhara (2014–15), Panchakanya Tej, Pentagon, and Biratnagar Warriors (2017–18). He also had a stint with Pune Devils in 2021. Since 2024, his primary domestic home has been the Kathmandu NPL franchise.

Karan KC made his List A debut for Nepal in January 2015 at the ICC World Cricket League Division Two in Namibia, taking 9 wickets in 6 matches including a 5-wicket haul against Canada — still the best List A bowling figures by a Nepali bowler. He debuted in T20Is against the Netherlands in mid-2015. His breakout international moment came on February 14, 2018, when his unbeaten 42 guided Nepal to a one-wicket win over Canada in the World Cricket League Division Two final, securing Nepal's ODI status. He made his ODI debut against the Netherlands on August 1, 2018 — Nepal's first-ever ODI.

He played Nepal's first-class debut against the MCC in November 2019, and represented the country at the 2019 South Asian Games, where Nepal won bronze. He became just the second Nepali bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets, and remains the only Nepali bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a T20I (against Papua New Guinea). He was part of Nepal's squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup and has been named in the squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup as well, with his last T20I appearance coming against England on February 8, 2026.

NPL 2024 (Season 1): One of the league's original eight Marquee players, assigned to Kathmandu Gurkhas via lucky draw.

NPL 2025 (Season 2): Retained as marquee player by the rebranded Kathmandu Gorkhas.

NPL 2026 (Season 3): Retained again as Kathmandu Gorkhas' marquee player in the mini-auction held in July 2026.

Karan KC has not captained Nepal or any NPL franchise. Across his international career he has played under four different Nepal captains — Paras Khadka, Sandeep Lamichhane, Gyanendra Malla, and current captain Rohit Paudel — in a senior strike-bowler role rather than a leadership one. There is no verified captaincy record to report for him.
