Yadav is built as a middle-order finisher-type batter who looks to accelerate quickly rather than anchor an innings — several of his domestic and franchise knocks have come at a strike rate well above run-a-ball. His most-cited franchise cameo is an unbeaten 19 off just 7 balls for Lumbini Lions during NPL 2024, a knock that reflected his intent in the closing overs of an innings.

Yadav picked up cricket in 2015 as a 12-year-old in Rajbiraj, in the aftermath of the devastating Nepal earthquake, when prolonged school closures gave him time to explore sport casually. His father, a local-level volleyball player, was a strong early influence and encouraged him to pursue cricket seriously. AB de Villiers was his cricketing idol growing up — reportedly why Yadav wears the number 71 (the reverse of de Villiers' famous 17, which was unavailable as a teammate already had it).

He represented Nepal's U-19 side, including at the 2019 Under-19 tour to Hyderabad, India, and the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2021 in Sharjah.

Yadav has represented Madhesh Province since Nepal's provincial cricket system began in 2018, playing across formats including the PM Cup (List A) and the National T20 Cricket Tournament. In the 2020 PM Cup, he was named Emerging Player of the Tournament. In the 2024 PM Cup final against Nepal Police Club, he scored 63 off 81 balls. He also featured in the National T20 final in 2023, taking 3/30 with the ball as Madhesh Province beat Tribhuwan Army Club.

Yadav made his T20I debut for Nepal against Oman on 11 February 2022, during the 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series, after impressing selectors following his U-19 performances. His highest score in T20Is is reported at 39 against Oman (2023). He also picked up a notable early wicket against Oman's captain, Zeeshan Maqsood, during a T20 World Cup qualifier — a moment he has described as a career breakthrough.

He has continued to be part of Nepal's T20I set-up in subsequent series, including tours and tri-series in 2024 (against Hong Kong, Qatar, and West Indies A).

Before the NPL existed, Yadav played in the Everest Premier League (EPL) for Pokhara Rhinos in the 2021–22 season — an earlier iteration of Nepal's T20 franchise cricket before NPL's launch in 2024.

NPL 2024 (Season 1): Signed by Lumbini Lions as a Category A player for the maximum bid of NRs 1,500,000 (Rs 15 lakh). He played across the tournament as a middle-order batter and support seamer.

NPL 2025 (Season 2): Reports indicate he was replaced in the Lumbini Lions squad due to injury, meaning his involvement in the second season was limited or interrupted.

NPL 2026 (Season 3) mini-auction: Returning from injury, Yadav was again sold at the maximum price of Rs 1.5 million, this time joining Chitwan Rhinos after a lucky draw between competing franchises. This mini-auction took place in July 2026 ahead of the tournament's third edition.

Bibek Kumar Yadav has not held a captaincy role at the international, franchise, or provincial level as of this writing. He plays as a squad member and all-rounder within his teams' batting and bowling line-ups rather than in a leadership capacity.
