TU Kirtipur Campus Requires Identity Cards for Entry During NPL Season 3
October 26, 2026
Tribhuvan University’s University Campus in Kirtipur has asked all professors, staff, and students to carry identity cards when entering the campus from 26 October to 21 November 2026. The requirement coincides with the full duration of Nepal Premier League Season 3, whose matches are being played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground inside the same campus.
The University Campus Principal’s office issued the notice on Sunday, 25 October. It covers the period from Kartik 9 to Mangsir 5 in the Nepali calendar and is intended to confirm the identity of people entering the premises while large crowds and security arrangements are in place for the tournament. The notice specifically applies to academic and administrative personnel rather than ticket-holding spectators entering the stadium itself.
The cricket ground sits within the university campus in Kirtipur. Because of this shared location, regular campus access and match-day stadium entry operate under different controls. Spectators use digital tickets purchased through the official partner eSewa and pass through dedicated turnstiles with QR verification. Campus members, by contrast, are being asked to present their existing university identity cards at campus gates for the entire tournament window. This arrangement helps security teams distinguish between authorized university personnel and the high volume of visitors expected for NPL matches.
NPL Season 3 is the third edition of the franchise T20 competition organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal. It runs from 26 October to 21 November at the single venue of the TU International Cricket Ground. The season opened on 26 October with defending champions Lumbini Lions facing Sudurpaschim Royals in the evening. All 32 matches, including the league stage and playoffs, are scheduled at Kirtipur. The tournament has ICC List A T20 status for the first time, and teams have access to the Decision Review System.
Previous editions held at the same ground generated occasional complaints from university staff about restricted movement and security checks during match days. The current identity-card request is a practical step to keep academic and administrative access orderly while the ground hosts continuous cricket activity over nearly four weeks. University members who need to reach offices, departments, or residences during this period are expected to keep their cards readily available.
Match tickets remain available through eSewa for remaining fixtures. Campus entry rules for staff and students are separate from stadium admission and do not affect ticket holders entering through designated gates. The identity-card arrangement is in force until the final on 21 November.
