NPL 2026: Both Saturday Matches Called Off Due to Rain
October 31, 2026
Both Nepal Premier League matches scheduled for Saturday, 31 October, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur have been called off because of continuous rain. Lumbini Lions vs Chitwan Rhinos (12:30 pm) and Biratnagar Kings vs Sudurpaschim Royals (5 pm) were both cancelled, and all four teams were awarded one point each.
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) secretary Paras Khadka confirmed the Today's match was called off, saying the stadium had become waterlogged after rain that has fallen since Thursday night. NPL T20 had earlier reported water pooled on the field despite the covers, which could not be removed to prepare the pitch while rain continued.
It is the first time NPL league matches have ended without a result in the tournament’s three seasons.
What it means for the points table. Karnali Yaks led before Saturday with four points from two wins, and none of the four teams involved can pass them on points.
Fixture dates are from the match listing on NPLT20League.com. The updated points are calculated from the shared-point rule and are not an official standing. Biratnagar remains without a win after three matches. Check the Sudurpaschim vs Biratnagar match page and the full NPL 2026 schedule for the remaining fixtures.
Tickets. CAN treasurer Padam Bahadur Khadka told Nepal Press that discussions are under way on whether ticket holders will get refunds or be allowed to attend another match. Ticketing partner eSewa had earlier said refunds would be given if a match was called off before the toss. No final ticket decision had been published when this was written.
