Defending champions Lumbini Lions have signed United States all-rounder Shadley van Schalkwyk for Nepal Premier League Season 3. The franchise confirmed the move on social media on 22 October 2026.

Van Schalkwyk arrives after taking 13 wickets in four innings for the USA at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. That return matched the most wickets by any player from an Associate nation in a single edition of the tournament. He took 4 for 25 against both India and Pakistan during the group stage.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, on 5 August 1988, van Schalkwyk is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and left-handed batter. He has taken 17 wickets in 13 ODIs and 28 wickets in 18 T20Is for the United States. He also plays for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.

This is not his first experience in Nepali franchise cricket. In the 2022 Nepal T20 League, he played for Lumbini All-Stars and was named player of the match against Pokhara Avengers at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. He scored an unbeaten 31 from 11 balls, including four sixes, and took 3 for 27.

Nepal Premier League Season 3 begins on 26 October 2026 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Lumbini Lions open against Sudurpaschim Royals in a rematch of last season’s final, with play scheduled for 5:00 PM local time. Van Schalkwyk’s availability for the opening match will depend on final selection and overseas balance.
