Pokhara Avengers Beat Chitwan Rhinos by 8 Wickets in Comfortable Chase
December 05, 2025
Pokhara Avengers closed out their NPL 2025 league campaign with a calm and professional eight-wicket win over Chitwan Rhinos at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The target was only 121, and the Avengers never looked in trouble as they wrapped up the chase inside 20 overs.
Chitwan had chosen to bat first, but the decision backfired almost immediately. Three wickets tumbled inside the first two overs, leaving the innings in deep trouble at 7 for 3. The top order had no answer to the new-ball pressure, and the momentum never returned.
The recovery came through the middle overs. Dev Khanal held one end with a steady 35 from 41 balls, trying to rebuild after the early collapse. Alpesh Ramjani added real value later in the innings with an unbeaten 33 off 22 balls, giving Chitwan something to work with in the final overs. Captain Kushal Malla chipped in with 23, but the total of 120 for 6 still felt short on a pitch that played true.
Pokhara began the chase with confidence and kept control from the start. Adam Rossington set the tone with a fluent half-century, finishing on 65 from 48 balls. He struck cleanly throughout his innings, timing the ball well and putting the bowlers under pressure at regular intervals. At the other end, Arjun Kumal played the perfect support role, staying unbeaten on 43 from 53 deliveries.
Their partnership of 100 runs shut Chitwan out of the contest. By the time Rossington fell, the match had already swung fully in Pokhara's favour. The final touches were applied without fuss as they crossed the line in 19.4 overs.
Chitwan's bowling offered little threat apart from a tidy spell from Dhananjaya Lakshan, who finished with 3 for 20. The rest struggled to find consistency or apply pressure, particularly once Rossington and Kumal settled in.
Rossington's composed innings earned him the Player of the Match award. For Pokhara, this win was a strong finish to their campaign after a mixed run earlier in the tournament. Chitwan, on the other hand, were left to reflect on another match where their top order gave them too little to work with.
